Change Your Mind, Change Your Life
In my last blog I mentioned that I had volunteered for a program that supported young ladies who wanted more out of life. Some of these ladies were homeless and had lived in very dysfunctional homes. Alcohol and drugs were the norm. Many were told they would never amount to anything and never received any loving support from a parent or grandparent.
All of us were told things that were not true and as young children we did not question them. It’s now time to look at the dysfunctional actions or thoughts that we were told. If you’re reading this, I’m sure you have been on your path for a while now, and you have been aware of some of these behaviors and beliefs.
If your parents were unhappy it’s a sign that they handed down a lot of their negative beliefs to you. As children we didn’t question what was said to us, we just believed it. Today we have choices and we don’t have to believe any negative advice anyone gives us. Those that come from negativity are coming from lack. We can’t change the beliefs of others; we can only change our beliefs.
Living with people who didn’t respect themselves, only led to more disrespect. They could only repeat the negative behavior that was handed down to them. Can you see any evidence of that in your life?
Are you determined to find a better way, just like these ladies did, to get out of your head and defy the old patterns, to be independent of dysfunctional behavior? Are you ready to change your mind and love yourself?
How would you answer these questions?
- Have you found a lot of excesses that sabotage your success?
- Do you sometimes blame your circumstances on others?
- Do you lack time, money and loving relationships?
What would your life look like if you didn’t believe your negative thoughts? By continually repeating the same thoughts we are creating beliefs that don’t serve us. The ego, (Edging God Out), is working diligently, on a daily basis, to keep us stuck in the old mind-set. Remember that negative thoughts are not yours. Let them go, give them to your Higher Power and release them, as if they are in a bubble.
Once you’re aware of these thoughts, write them down. Now write down what you would like instead, create the life you want. You can change your thoughts. Write down how you would like your life to look, even if it feels like a stretch. This is your new mantra. Write it on your bathroom mirror and say it every day. Put it on a 3X5 card. Say it first thing in the morning, noon, and last thing at night.
I support my clients by finding the awareness of what isn’t true and changing the old patterns that don’t serve them anymore. Together we carry out a plan of action that changes their lives.
If you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, and would like to have a happier, healthier life, I’m here to help and guide you on your journey. Change your mind and your life will change. You are in control.
Next week I will discuss how the food we eat affects us emotionally and physically.
Hope to talk to you soon.
Hugs,
Kim
