Prescription for Happiness
If I could give you a prescription for happiness, would you take it? We all say we want it in our lives, but do we know how to achieve it?
The is Suicide Prevention Month. I will be discussing ways to eliminate stress and depression, and implement ways to find happiness, joy, and peace the entire month.
Did you know that suicide is the third leading cause of death in the world and that 90% of the people in hospitals are they’re because of stress? Staggering statistics put true.
Do you what to be a statistic?
What is the cost of all the stress and depression in your life? Poor health, low energy, or poor relationships are just a few of the symptoms that can affect you negatively.
I personally have suffered from depression and know first-hand the devastation, sadness, loneliness and the vicious cycle of attempting to get out of empty feelings. Leaving the house and being with others was almost impossible at times and when I did, I felt all alone even in a large crowd.
For some medication is the answer. You must do what works for you. Be informed and talk to several doctors before you decide what is right for you. Ask what the side effects are of each drug, they can sometimes be worse than the cure. You’re in control. Do your homework and decide, based on your findings.
The Tool for Today:
Remember times when life did feel good and start to implement these feelings. Go to a quiet place, close your eyes and remember a time when you were happy. Hold those wonderful memories in your mind and feel the feelings. Open your heart to those gloriousmemories.
I would think of times I was with my children, birthday parties, and holiday events. Remember the times when I laughed and played, that make my heart sing.
Remember your happy thoughts for 1 minute, or even longer, if possible.
This process can help you change how you feel, if only for that moment. Start to build on those happy feelings and do these two or three times a day, or whenever possible. First thing in the morning, mid-day, and/or last thing at night. When you change your thoughts to happy, joyful ones, your perspective can change. It takes practice, but worth every minute of your time. As you continue to build this muscle of happiness, your perspective will start to strengthen and shift because you are modifying your emotions.
This tool was a game changer for me. It helped me out of my slump and into feeling good about myself.
You can use your mind to change anything. It is possible to change negativity to more uplifting emotions. It may happen quickly, or it may be a slow journey. The thing to remember is that your worth it. Give yourself the gift of time to heal and feel better.
I have been able to stop the downward spiral of depression and have had incredible results, I wish everyone else the same. It feels good to be alive and feel like a vital part of life, each and every day.
I would love to hear how this tool works for you. I really enjoy getting your feedback.
Hugs,
Kim
For some medication is the answer, for others, it doesn’t seem to do anything. I choose to look at my diet and hormones to see if I could change the way I felt.
